We are all aware at this point that this Christmas will be different compared to previous years. However, if you expand your horizons, this Christmas can become a memorable one as well – for the first time ever, Finnair is organising virtual flights to Rovaniemi!

Finnair has been «Santa’s official airline » since 1983. Every year, the Finnish airline flies Santa Claus from its home country in Finland to places across the world and shares joy for thousands of children (… and adults).

Usually, the airline organises charity trips with the Santa Claus Foundation to various parts of the world and transports thousands of travellers to what is often named Santa’s hometown, Rovaniemi in Northern Finland.

For obvious reasons, this year will be different, so these virtual flight will be an excellent opportunity to meet Santa Claus in a safe and socially distanced way.

As of 25 December, eight virtual flights to Rovaniemi are organised for families and children. Onboard, passengers will travel comfortably in Finnair’s new Business Class in the Airbus A350. The virtual cabin crew will bring refreshments and Business Class meals, while you can admire the starry sky and gaze upon the dramatic northern lights from your’ seat’.

Finnair promises that there will be surprises during the journey, where you may even get a glimpse of a familiar figure! After landing in the wintry town of Rovaniemi, you can visit Santa’s workshop and meet Santa Claus himself!

The ticket price is €10 per person, and all profits will go to the UNICEF charity fund to help children who have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
